When I first spoke with Steve he laid out his vision for their wedding very articulately. It was to be a great wedding celebration of his and Meredith’s love and life together so far and their future. Celebration being a key word for them. I thought this made a lot of sense. With a wedding we tend to look toward the future naturally as it’s a beginning but we should remember we’re also celebrating the past. People that helped raise us, friends and experiences that helped shape us. Even the time, memories and accomplishments made together as a couple. Some couples have more experience together than others based on the length of their engagement and courtship. I’ve filmed for couples who met literally a few months before the day and those who have been dating for 9 years or more!

Meredith and Steve are a couple who had a rich history together already. They’ve been dating several years, have a son together and naturally wanted to make him a big part of their day. What was originally planned to be a big city wedding in Chicago because of stifling covid restrictions became a wedding in the countryside of Plymouth, IN at Swan Lake Resort. And it was great. Swan Lake is a premiere wedding resort location. We’ve enjoyed filming there several times before and actually filmed our first ever wedding film there as a company. The resort is located on a golf course, has lodging on site including some rustic log cabins as well as traditional hotel rooms. The couple took advantage of both with Steve staying in the hotel and Meredith in a cabin. Steve and Meredith chose to have their ceremony in a nearby church and hosted the reception at Swan Lake.
It was a beautiful event full of incredible speeches and moments. Meredith and Steve were genuinely wonderful to work with throughout the process. They were very intentional and made everyone feel welcome and appreciated on the day. Our best to them and their family. May they make many new memories and celebrate many more life milestones together. Thanks Jacob and Mary Kate for filming the day!

Megan and Bob were married in South Bend Indiana at the historic St. Joseph Church by Rev. Matt Fase. They hosted their wedding reception just down the road at the lovely Palais Royale Ballroom, also in South Bend. Both locations were really perfect for their day. With close proximity to the one another and the city of South Bend it made commuting a snap. We were also in walking distance to the St. Joseph River and had some great views there for photos. The Palais is in my opinion one of the most elegant ballrooms in the city and didn’t fail to impress for Megan and Bob. With beautiful white, yellow and gold tones, pin lighting, and floral arrangements it looked amazing. I’ve had a wonderful history filming at the Palais in past years. Check out some of our other favorite Palais wedding couples here!
The Wedding Day
We began the day getting ready in Megan’s beautiful family home. Lots of natural light for details and makeup with the talented Stephanie Jean were key. Following were the couples heartfelt vows at the church. Speeches by maid of honor and best man and Megan’s fathers hilarious speech. He candidly portrayed the similarities he and Bob shared which helped them get along well. I actually overheard him joke with Bob as he handed off Megan that he would touch his nose during the ceremony if Bob’s team scored, lol.
After all this they packed the dance floor with family and friends for their rocking wedding reception. This lovely evening was made possible by the efforts of many including: event planning by the bride! Room lighting by Pro-Show, catering & coordinating for the reception was Navarre catering, floral arrangements by Poppies By Polly, photography by Kirsten Wray. Cinematography by Vibe Video Productions. Entertainment was provided by the amazing and energizing My Yellow Rickshaw Band
Katie’s dad said he never thought anyone would be good enough for his little girl. This was his thought process about first meeting her then boyfriend Brett. And so he didn’t expect to like Brett! It’s hard for us girl dad’s to imagine who will take our daughters hand someday. I mean that’s a huge thing. Handing over the responsibility of someone so dear to another person. Someone you must trust will look after her like you do. Will treat her with the love and respect she deserves. It’s just a bit hard to picture that day even though as dad’s we know that it’s good and the day is coming. I pray for the right one for my little girl.
Perhaps these are some of the hesitations Katie’s dad was feeling when meeting Brett for the first time. He described Katie as kind, compassionate, talented and intelligent. It’s obvious Katie has always been the apple of his eye and he wasn’t about to accept just any guy for her. He would have to be a good one. And thankfully Katie found a great guy in Brett. Some of the words used to describe him were genuine, kind, considerate, intelligent, a great sense of humor and optimistic. So, fortunately Brett made a good impression and as they say the rest was history!
Katie and Brett both attended Notre Dame where they met and fell in love their freshman year. They wanted to have their wedding on campus where they shared many special memories. They had a beautiful wedding with colors Slate blue, white and greenery. Their day began at the Morris Inn on campus. The ceremony was at the Basilica of the sacred heart and the reception at Danke Ballroom in the Stadium. All hosted by Venue ND.

Here’s some other amazing videos we’ve filmed at Notre Dame!
I may be daydreaming reflecting on Katie and Brad’s ethereal winter wedding. White and bright, cold and grey but hospitable. Subtle cool tones. These are some of the adjectives I’d use to describe the campus of Notre Dame in winter. At least the campus on the kind of day that Katie and Brad had. It was beautiful to say the least. Warm enough we were able to film outside without gloves. But our ears and hands reminded us it was still winter after a half hour or so. Katie Whitcomb and I had a blast taking photos & filming while Katie & Brad did their part looking great and braving the cold. Kudos to them!
We began the day filming with Katie and her bridal crew getting glammed up at their suite in Hilton Garden Inn. We even got a few of Brad getting suited up with his bro’s. Then it was time for Katie’s big reveal with her father as they shared a first look moments before heading to the church. Their Basilica ceremony was beautiful. The priest shared a some memories from Katie’s time taking his “tree class”. Then he even shared some of Katie’s reflections from her time in class. He incorporated those reflections into their ceremony homily in a beautiful way. Their reception followed at the Gillespie conference center nearby which is perfect for large or intimate events such at theirs.
Their winter wedding film has certain attributes of heavenly grace and sublime beauty. Perhaps a good reflection of Katie and Brad’s married life together!
