Laura and Zach’s great wedding day love story led them through twists and turns frustrations and breakthroughs in their planning process. All to a beautiful wedding day surrounded by family and friends. Hats off to this couple they had to put off being married for nearly a year from their original wedding date. But thank goodness they stuck with it! Their day was incredible. From first meeting the ladies and gentlemen on the wedding day the excitement was palpable. And that excitement and fun continued throughout.
We managed to get one of the most gorgeous days of the year for them. It was the perfect Michigan day, clear and warm in the afternoon with and bit of crisp cool lake air come evening. The ceremony and reception were on site at Morris Estate in Niles, MI. A venue we’ve come to know and love over the years.
The entire wedding was a perfect fit for the bride and groom. Their patience and persistence paid off big with a truly great wedding day love story. Cheers to them!!
What a space! Natalie and Eric hosted their Journeyman Distillery wedding in Three Oaks, Michigan. We love Michigan weddings Journeyman is actually a distillery, restaurant and event venue all under one roof. The wedding and reception took place in Warren Hall one of three event spaces on the third floor. The upstairs event areas are full of natural light which are perfect for cinematography. Everything about the space was warm, inviting and full of character. The building space was originally the feather bone factory, a corset and buggy whip maker some 100 years ago and still bears old industrial remnants as reminders of that. The bottom floor of the space is the Staymaker restaurant, whiskey distillery and store. If you enjoy the sweet smell of hash brewing and the savory aroma of food on the grill you’ll love this place. I liked the chill vibe of the restaurant and whiskey bar with tasting tours going on. You might think a wedding wouldn’t want to share a building with a restaurant full of strangers but that’s kind of the culture of an up scale distillery. People, food and drink and social interaction. The Journeyman is known for it’s excellent whiskey and having special drinks & whiskey on site is a boon for many wedding guests.
Bride and groom got prepped on site, did their first look in an empty bar on the 1st floor. Then we went upstairs to the venue where we enjoyed their photo session in the Grainery. They had a beautiful ceremony right at sunset we could watch through the windows. Then it was a room flip from ceremony to reception while guests enjoyed cocktails nearby. Floral and event design by Snapdragon designs and Cyndi Basker from Celebrated Events. Guests enjoyed day of party favors, catering and drinks by Journeyman. A nice advantage of having a restaurant/distillery in house! The sights and sounds of Natalie and Eric’s wedding were absolutely lovely. We had a fantastic time seeing their event unfold in before our eyes and our cameras! Eric was a former professional soccer player and he and his friends put some of the energy and endurance required for soccer towards their dancing! It was a wild dance floor let me tell you.
From their first look when we arrived to getting down on the dance floor Natalie & Eric’s energy and chemistry together was amazing. Congrats to the new Mr and Mrs. Gehrig!
Several years ago I filmed for Anne’s sister Leigh and her husband Nate on their wedding day and what an epic day it was. Needless to say I was thrilled when Anne’s mother requested our services again for Anne and Matthew’s wedding. They’re such an amazing, genuine and good looking couple! As their dad said for both sisters he knows how to build beautiful daughters who in turn bring amazing son-in-law’s into the family!
We started the day with the ladies getting ready at the bride’s family home while the guys got prepped at the ceremony location – First Presbyterian Church in Niles, MI. The reception was hosted by VenueND at Downes Ballroom in Notre Dame Stadium.
Our crew Zarah and Sam did an awesome job filming. I’m actually jealous they got to have all the fun shooting as I was filming a previous engagement but I’m proud to have taken part as editor in chief! Thanks again Anne and Matthew, we hope you enjoy your Wedding Film as much as we did making it. Now check out their Trailer and Feature Film!
One thing we love is outdoor weddings in the summer. I’ve always thought the sights the sounds of nature really enrich the wedding experience, whether it’s being outside the whole day or just going out for a few pictures. That certainly was the case for Emily and Steve who hosted their wedding at Gable Hill Barn in Marcellus, Michigan. It was a beautiful day for a beautiful couple who it’s clear are deeply loved by the many friends and family who came out to support them on their wedding day. Thanks for filming Mitch and Mary. Our best to the newlyweds!
