kathryn & Bryan’s story

Composing Bryan and Kathryn’s wedding film was like putting together a puzzle picture! Bryan said during his vows that after their first date he knew a future love with Kathryn was inevitable. Kathryn replied that she couldn’t put adequately put words to her love, it was easier to describe it with moments or pictures if you will. Glances, laughs, winks, long hikes together etc.

I hope when you watch the video you will better understand that means. That’s what I love about making wedding films. It’s like painting a picture it starts very undefined and through the process of refining becomes a complete picture.

editing or composing?

I never know what direction the film or story may take until I arrive on the wedding day. I still don’t really know when the filming is done. The discovery mostly happens during the process of editing. I might say selection and arranging is a more appropriate description than editing. Editing sounds so mechanical and removed. When making a wedding film you have to compose the video. Like a music composer a good video editor must feel the work.

putting the pieces together!

With the help of God I take on the composition process with great care, a few ideas and a desire to achieve the best result. I take the many parts of the wedding day and piece them together until I see the puzzle completed. Bryan and Kathryn’s puzzle began from their first meeting or before in their life journey which prepared them for meeting. Our puzzle began with a hundred beautiful little pieces of video and memories from their wedding. Speeches and memories shared by family and friends. Things the couple shared in their own words. Pictures of them interacting, images of the things they chose to include in the day.

When I first met Bryan and Kathryn I could tell they were a lot of fun and I really enjoyed getting to know them. They hosted a beautiful wedding at Hidden Hollow Farm. Check out some other beautiful weddings we’ve filmed at wedding barn venues. Cheers to the the newlyweds!
