The Setting!

What a space! Natalie and Eric hosted their Journeyman Distillery wedding in Three Oaks, Michigan. We love Michigan weddings and Journeyman in Three Oaks is a quintessential Michigan wedding venue. It’s actually a distillery, restaurant and event venue all under one roof. The wedding and reception took place in Warren Hall one of three event spaces on the third floor. The upstairs event areas are full of natural light which are perfect for cinematography. Everything about the space was warm, inviting and full of character. The building space was originally the feather bone factory, a corset and buggy whip maker some 100 years ago and still bears old industrial remnants as reminders of that. The bottom floor of the space is the Staymaker restaurant, whiskey distillery and store. If you enjoy the sweet smell of hash brewing and the savory aroma of food on the grill you’ll love this place. I liked the chill vibe of the restaurant and whiskey bar with tasting tours going on. You might think a wedding wouldn’t want to share a building with a restaurant full of strangers but that’s kind of the culture of an up scale distillery. People, food and drink and social interaction. The Journeyman is known for it’s excellent whiskey and having special drinks & whiskey on site is a boon for many wedding guests.

The Wedding!

Bride and groom got prepped on site, did their first look in an empty bar on the 1st floor. Then we went upstairs to the venue where we enjoyed their photo session in the Grainery. They had a beautiful ceremony right at sunset we could watch through the windows. Then it was a room flip from ceremony to reception while guests enjoyed cocktails nearby. Floral and event design by Snapdragon designs and Cyndi Basker from Celebrated Events. Guests enjoyed day of party favors, catering and drinks by Journeyman. A nice advantage of having a restaurant/distillery in house! The sights and sounds of Natalie and Eric’s wedding were absolutely lovely. We had a fantastic time seeing their event unfold in before our eyes and our cameras! Eric was a former professional soccer player and he and his friends put some of the energy and endurance required for soccer towards their dancing! It was a wild dance floor let me tell you. From their first look when we arrived to getting down on the dance floor Natalie & Eric’s energy and chemistry together was amazing. Congrats to the new Mr and Mrs. Gehrig!
