Michelle’s father joked in his speech that soon all the rhinestones, glitter and pink would be arriving at their house by the truckload! That got a good laugh but Michelle really did get the wedding of her dreams. She had amazing details, sparkle and her favorite colors. Plus, she had the perfect venue in the Palais Royale to showcase all the glitter and warm, pink tones. The room sparkles without much help (exhibit A, giant ceiling chandeliers) but add in special lighting, floral, glass and table coverings and it really shines. It’s great when a couple can include all their favorites into the wedding day and I think Michelle & Casey did a great job with taste and excellence!

getting prepped

Michelle and her ladies were bustling when we arrived at Aloft Hotel that morning. They were eating Jimmy Johns (a wedding day favorite) and drinking champagne drinks with pretty straws and matching attire. We enjoyed shooting alongside Jessica Strickland to capture all the details and makeup. Casey and his guys were at the family home hanging in the basement and doing their thing. As a videographer, I find lighting in a basement is always so low and flat so I had Casey move outdoors to open his gifts from Michelle and read a letter she wrote him. Michelle also read a letter from Casey and opened gifts which was fun. It’s one of the hidden treats of ceremony prep and gives me insight into what the couple loves.

wedding bells

The wedding ceremony was at Grace United Methodist Church in South Bend. Everything was going right to schedule until we got stuck there waiting out a tornado warning after the service. No worries, Michelle and Casey and their party took it in stride! The guys even played a little basketball in the church gym while we waited. Bride and groom got pictures together under the church carport overhang and later under the entrance of the Morris performing arts theatre. It’s amazing all the beautiful bright footage we got while rain pounded in the background (thanks to great waterproof 4K cameras!). We also filmed beautiful scenes with them inside the Morris Inn lobby area. The gold tones and exquisite architecture provided a romantic background for their portraits. A little rain couldn’t chase the smiles away from this couple. It was a big, beautiful, sparkling wedding day! We’re happy to have added Michelle & Casey to our amazing repertoire of couples married at the Palais Royale.
