This is maybe the third New Years Eve wedding I’ve filmed in my career and I have great memories of them all. I mean what’s not to like about a New Years Eve wedding? Lot’s of champagne, glitter & noisemakers, plus guests who are ready to celebrate! The latest, Kaley and Sean’s wedding may be one of our most memorable yet.
I’ve gotten to know Sean’s family over the years filming his siblings weddings so it was great to see them all again. It was a perfect wedding day. Wintery white & brisk but not too cold. The locations they chose were on point from the getting ready session at Knownover Farmstead to the reception at The Armory in South Bend. But the main reason the day was an amazing success was Sean, Kaley and their families. They were all very happy for the couple, supportive and a joy to work with.
I mentioned locations. I always find locations are key to any event. Sean’s mother Gail actually discovered the Knownover farmstead in Granger for her daughter Heathers & Ryan’s wedding a couple years back. I had never heard of it before then but was very impressed. Sean and Kaley like Heather and Ryan rented the whole house for the weekend and it was again a perfect choice. We filmed Kaley getting ready in the main level of the house with the oak floors and bay windows. And filmed the guys hanging out in the rustic (pub like) basement. The results were stunning. Not to mention the cozy front yard photo session for their first look plus wedding party photos.
Kaley & Sean hosted a beautiful ceremony at Trinity Lutheran Church. Their reception venue choice was the Armory in South Bend. The Armory had that perfect vibe for a New Years Eve event. Bustling wine bar in the front. Crystal chandeliers, large dance floor and a sweet cocktail and bar area for guests. Bride/groom and their guests got busy drinking champagne and danced the night away. We were all having such a great time midnight snuck right up on us. I forgot all about the ball drop until the dj started counting down the seconds and soon we were out of 2020 and into 2021! It was a beautiful New Years Eve wedding topped with a Kiss at midnight and sparkler exit for the bride and groom!
Congrats to the newlyweds may your lives be full of blessing, love and joy!
What a space! Natalie and Eric hosted their Journeyman Distillery wedding in Three Oaks, Michigan. We love Michigan weddings Journeyman is actually a distillery, restaurant and event venue all under one roof. The wedding and reception took place in Warren Hall one of three event spaces on the third floor. The upstairs event areas are full of natural light which are perfect for cinematography. Everything about the space was warm, inviting and full of character. The building space was originally the feather bone factory, a corset and buggy whip maker some 100 years ago and still bears old industrial remnants as reminders of that. The bottom floor of the space is the Staymaker restaurant, whiskey distillery and store. If you enjoy the sweet smell of hash brewing and the savory aroma of food on the grill you’ll love this place. I liked the chill vibe of the restaurant and whiskey bar with tasting tours going on. You might think a wedding wouldn’t want to share a building with a restaurant full of strangers but that’s kind of the culture of an up scale distillery. People, food and drink and social interaction. The Journeyman is known for it’s excellent whiskey and having special drinks & whiskey on site is a boon for many wedding guests.
Bride and groom got prepped on site, did their first look in an empty bar on the 1st floor. Then we went upstairs to the venue where we enjoyed their photo session in the Grainery. They had a beautiful ceremony right at sunset we could watch through the windows. Then it was a room flip from ceremony to reception while guests enjoyed cocktails nearby. Floral and event design by Snapdragon designs and Cyndi Basker from Celebrated Events. Guests enjoyed day of party favors, catering and drinks by Journeyman. A nice advantage of having a restaurant/distillery in house! The sights and sounds of Natalie and Eric’s wedding were absolutely lovely. We had a fantastic time seeing their event unfold in before our eyes and our cameras! Eric was a former professional soccer player and he and his friends put some of the energy and endurance required for soccer towards their dancing! It was a wild dance floor let me tell you.
From their first look when we arrived to getting down on the dance floor Natalie & Eric’s energy and chemistry together was amazing. Congrats to the new Mr and Mrs. Gehrig!
Brandon and Amelia hosted their Tabor Hill Winery wedding winter event outdoors in November at Tabor Hill Winery in Buchanan, Michigan! It was a perfect day for a winter wedding with a little snow on the ground but clear skies and not too cool. Ok, so it’s a little unusual to host a wedding outdoors in November, in Michigan no less! I wouldn’t recommend it to the average bride but… if you have the gumption, the know how and the resources to pull it off it can be an incredible, visceral experience.
Let’s just say Amelia, her family and co-workers with Burns Rentals did have the resources and the know how to pull it off. They are a full service special events rental and design company located in Mishawaka. Great people who I would strongly recommend! They did an amazing job from an outdoor cigar tent to snow sweeping machines and beautiful open flame area heaters. The team at Burns had all the tricks to keep us warm while outside and inside. They planned, designed and furnished the event. Since their team was there to play they made a great choice and hired our Angie with Belle Behind the Ball to coordinate the day! Here’s another great event Burns Rentals provided for we filmed for Sarah & Justin
All in all it was an incredible day. We were honored to be part of their celebration!

With all the elements of a show stopping wedding day Molly & Pete’s wedding was the toast of the town! There were a lot of moving parts with a giant, fun wedding party and several locations but Indy Gigz did an amazing job of coordinating the multi-site event and it went off without a glitch.
We started the day filming Molly and Pete and their bridesmaids and groomsmen getting ready at The Alexander Hotel (guys) and the Omni Hotel (ladies). Molly gifted Pete with an amazing Omega watch and he gave her a second diamond ring!
