Cassidy and Bryon’s wedding film | A love story for the ages

The Love story

I love to hear a good love story, don’t you? After all, that is why we do what we do here at Vibrant. Cassidy and Bryon are blessed to have a timeless love story to tell their children someday. During the ceremony the minister did a beautiful job of telling their story and Bryon’s brother added more detail during his speech at the reception. Naturally, I tried to include as much of their story as I could in their feature film because their story is what made their union. Cassidy met Bryon while interning at his church in his hometown of Almo, Michigan. After they struck up a friendship and got to know one another Bryon wanted to ask Cassidy out but assumed she had already placed him in the dreaded friend zone! It wasn’t until Bryon’s brother and another influential person (who the minister jokingly referred to as “a prophet”) in his life encouraged him to just go ahead and ask her out. So he did. And of course the rest was history.

The wedding Film

This is where we come in. Bryon and Cassidy asked us to capture their wedding that took place at Cassidy’s home church Church at the Crossing in Indianapolis. They hosted family and friends during their reception at the beautiful Iron + Ember in Carmel. We had awesome weather for filming outdoors given it was in November. Having a fall wedding can be a risk but it was well worth it. There were still some colorful leaves on the trees and we had an incredibly warm day which made filming portraits and cocktails outdoors a delight.

We never grow tired of the opportunity to capture someone’s special day. Bryon and Cassidy – thank you for making our jobs easy! We wish you the best knowing your best is yet to come — cheers!

wedding celebration epic day joy fun party dancing toasts fun best

Allison and Kyle’s epic wedding celebration | filmed at The Gillespie

Let’s Party!

When I first talked to Kyle about filming his and Allison’s wedding he said their friends and family love to party and dance when they get together. He was correct. They did have an epic wedding celebration which was awesome to capture for them on film.

Bride Prep

We got started filming the day with Allison at the Nicholas j salon on Eddy street. Always a great choice for brides in the South Bend, Notre Dame area. Following from that we filmed with Kyle, Allison and friends at their hotel capturing all the special details. Rings, shoes dress and more. Allison was super excited to get into the dress as any bride should be.. so when the dress did go on it was time for some celebratory dance moves, also caught on film:) The transformation was complete and it was time to show it off to the special men in her life!

Groom Prep

All this time Kyle was busy with the task of getting himself and his groomsmen all suited up. This involved some finesse to get the details just right. Fortunately Kyle had an ace up his sleeve. A groomsman his friends jokingly referred to as Men’s Wearhouse:) There’s several scenes where our star groomsman comes through folding pocket squares and adjusting cufflinks in a pinch. I’ll say it’s nice to have a guy in the group who gets it and can help his bros out. I’m sure Kyle would agree. But my favorite scene from the guys getting ready is Kyle lovingly adjusting his son’s shirt and jacket getting him all ready for day. What a great dad.

Married at Last

After all the preps there were emotional first looks for Allison with her dad, her son and of course Kyle. Following was a short but beautiful outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing all at the Gillespie Conference Center. All said we had a magical day filming the event. Special thanks to Angie from Belle Behind the Ball for planning & coordinating the event and contacting us on behalf of her friends Kyle and Allison.

Ashlynn & Logan’s Private Wedding Event | Lake Wawasee, Indiana

When I first spoke with Ashlynn and Logan they were living in sunny San Diego and planning their private wedding event near Lake Wawasee in Ashlynn’s hometown Syracuse, Indiana. I was psyched at the opportunity to work in my own neck of the woods. I grew up here moved away and recently returned with my family. I’ve always enjoyed the beauty of the lakes area. It’s a beautiful area to plan a summer or fall wedding, especially with new venues offering public access to events on the lake.

location. location. location.

Hosting a outdoor home wedding event can be financially beneficial and convenient especially during a pandemic year. Ashlynn & Logan hosted their wedding at a family friends home near Lake Wawasee. It was a beautiful private spot set deep back a long drive with a pond and large lawn. Of course hosting at a private residence isn’t all fun and games there are some things to work out as they did. You must make special considerations for parking, seating, tent space, seating space for guests. It’s important to choose a location with plenty of room for parking and lots of surrounding space so the noise of the music dissipates at the reception. This location had all that and created a spacious and very private experience. Side note, if hosting a private event don’t forget to notify close neighbors ahead of time about the noise and traffic!

get to work!

The truth is doing it yourself is a lot of work so be prepared to roll up your sleeves. Logan and Ashlynn were up to this challenge and with lots of hard work provided a beautiful wedding experience for their guests. They made custom wood benches and wedding arches for the ceremony overlooking the pond. For the reception they made a custom dance floor and portrait wall decorated with flowers. Also beautiful table arrangements for the wedding cake and head table. For the cocktail hour and dinner they provided a delicious self serve food truck from Ziffles Zip N Go plus tasty specialty drinks pre-mixed for convenience. For activity there was corn hole and giant sized Jenga lawn games available. All of which are in the film.

With lots of hard work and much love in their hearts Ashlynn and Logan pulled off their dream wedding. And they did it their way. They enjoyed the heck out of it and had beautiful weather. I would call that a great success!

Prepped for wedding day success! Emily and Evan | Married in Elkhart, IN

We could tell right away Emily and Evan were prepped for wedding day success. They had a lovely Heart City wedding all ready to roll and a fun wedding party to hang with. It was easy to tell they are both very loved by their many friends and family who joined them on their day.

Thanks mom!

We were fortunate to have plenty of help in planning from Emily’s mother who was so on it. I love working with a mother of the bride like Julie. She didn’t fret about the details she just planned and got it done! And things went great. I think a bride can be her own worst enemy with overthinking details. It’s not her fault but because the wedding day is so important to her she can over think the small stuff. Sometimes a bride needs to just let her mom run with it. Mom’s are usually right and have way more life experience making tough choices. Plus they aren’t as emotionally attached to the decisions. They know a good deal when they see it and don’t hesitate!

Bride prep

Our time started with Emily and her ladies at the Blown Away hair and makeup salon in South Bend. It was here they prepped for wedding day success. I can never overstate the importance of getting ready time for your wedding filmmaker and photographer. Bottom line not only is it the most artistic opportunity for your filmmaking. It’s also when the wedding day starts becoming real for the bride. She can physically see the transformation beginning and the excitement becomes palpable. There was a great vibe that morning as the ladies got their pretty on. I’ve often filmed brides prepping with just a friend but it’s especially fun when a bride’s full squad is there to support her. In addition to being fun having more support helps ease tension by bringing normalcy to the days events.

groom prep

Evan was getting ready and hanging with his groomsmen while waiting for the days events to begin. With the guys it’s always less about appearance and more about jokes and camaraderie. The camaraderie was awesome and seemed to keep Evan calm. He was relaxed and enjoying his last moments of singleness, giving gifts to his groomsmen, writing a letter to Emily and suiting up for the day. Some of his closest confidants were there for him as I’m sure they had been through the years. As a groom of course you want friends you trust there at this crucial point of the day.

Our best to the new Mr and Mrs! May you have many years of post wedding day success together.
