A Blissful Wedding Day at St. Joe Farm in Granger, Indiana

A blissful wedding day for Brock and Lexi at St. Joe Farm in Granger, Indiana. The video shows their sweet vision for a September barn event!

The swooning newlyweds

Sometimes the weather is just perfect and you have a blissful wedding day the likes of Lexi & Brocks! I can still recall the sweat at midday being outside flying my drone. But you know in September if it’s too warm in the afternoon it’s going to cool off just fine by evening for cocktails and dancing later. Add a little breeze and you have a picture perfect golden hour photo session. Ahh I’m getting sentimental just thinking about it.

the Vision

While the weather is fun to talk it’s really the things you have control over that matter most. Things like selecting the right venue, vendors and making the day you! To really create a blissful wedding day you need to have vision. Rather than pulling together a hodgepodge of Pinterest ideas and hoping they work it’s best to have a unique plan and unified vision. Lexi’s dad mentioned in his speech that when they walked into the barn at St. Joe farm for the first time he didn’t have the vision:) When they saw it first it was winter. It was cold, dark and empty inside the barn. He said he couldn’t imagine how it would look and feel like a wedding space. But was he was blown away by the outcome on the wedding day. Thank goodness Lexi, her mother and their vendors had the vision and left no stone unturned as you can see in the film.

The outcome

Lexi chose a lovely earth tone color palette of navy, cinnamon, orange and gold. This accented with their floral selections suited the venue and season well. The bridesmaids dresses were cinnamon orange which was a cool fall color. Lexi & Brock along with their wedding party did their wedding preparations at St. Joe Farm in an adjacent structure designated for a bride/groom suite. They hosted their wedding ceremony off site at St. Puis X Catholic Church. After the ceremony we returned to the farm for the cocktail hour, wedding photo and video candid session and the reception celebration.

the space

St. Joe farm is really special for a number of reasons. One it’s a massive space that still feels intimate. It’s spacious overhead not interrupted by a loft. Most big barns have a loft or some kind of upper level which takes away from the spacious feel. It’s also an original wood structure at least 100 years old. In addition there’s plenty of unique spaces around the farm for your photography sessions. Having great photo settings is huge when you’re looking at a rural venue where you will likely be all day. So if you’re looking for a barn wedding venue with great photo locations that will host a large crowd it may be for you. After watching Lexi and Brocks film also check another fun wedding we filmed at the Farm!
